How to add more "show as" colors\ options in outlook?
Hello to you all,I'm working in a company that has few sites around the country,All the branches use the same Exchange server. The problem is when you want to schedule a meeting with someone you can't know if he can attend the meeting or not. When you schedule a meeting you can choose "Busy", "Free" or "Out of office" so if you work in branch "A" you use the "Busy" marking for a meeting in your own office and for every meeting out of branch "A" you use the "Out of office" marking. The problem is how can you know if someone is in a meeting in branch "B" of "C" or with a client someplace out of the office? Everything is marked the same (out of office). Is there a way to add more markings to the "show as" option in the calendar so you can mark each branch with different color? In that way you can always know if you can s schedule a meeting with someone based on where he is.Any ideas how to do it?Thanks,Ram

Hi, That is by design. Maybe some coding work can help you to customize it. You can use newsgroup for Outlook development to get better help. http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.outlook.program_forms&cat=en_US_c8637863-b0c3-4e44-90ca-90a1461945ea&lang=en&cr=US Besides, since the type that you specify in show as is the status that others can view whether you are free or not at certain period, I think you can use out of office when people is not at office but not the meeting is out of ones branch. More information share with you: You can also specify how your calendar looks to others by designating the time an appointment takes as busy, free, tentative,or out of office. busy: Blocks of time that are marked busy appear with a solid availability indicator and are shown as unavailable when other people view your Calendar. free: Free time appears with a clear availability indicator and is seen as available when others view your Calendar. An appointment of zero duration, while visible in the selected block of time when viewing days, shows as free time to others. tentative: Blocks of time that are marked tentative appear with a striped availability indicator and are shown as available when other people view your Calendar. Out of office: Blocks of time marked out of office appear with a solid availability indicator and a shaded appointment background, and they are shown as unavailable when other people view your Calendar. Hello, Thanks for the info. I will try asking the same question in the newsgroup for Outlook development. I think that this is something that should be considered by Microsoft and to find a built-in solution for this kind of things. Thanks again, Ram

I would be interested in what you find out. I have a different scenario where additional options would be very valuable. We have people who "work from home" on irregular and regular schedules. When scheduling a meeting, it would be very helpful to know whether an individual will be in the office or working from home (which would require either rescheduling or setting up conference calls). Please share what you find!
